Shoot Cameras

Shoot Cameras teaches filmmaking from thought to theater. Youth create a short film based on their own life experiences allowing them to express themselves through the arts. Participants write the script, direct, act, film, and handle the lighting. This program has attracted the likes of Snoop Dogg, Matt Barnes, and Anwan “Big G” Glover, and culminates in a movie premiere showcasing the students’ talents. Shoot Cameras introduces students (ages 12 to 17) to the fundamentals of film making while incorporating the principles of self-awareness, self-management, responsible decision making, social awareness, and relationship skills. Students will complete Shoot Cameras having gained technical skills to creatively express themselves through film, as well as valuable emotional skills to positively impact their everyday lives.
